Cold War Cache

GC32REK

Thanks for the lovely cache. It scores highly as a fave simply for the history. What an interesting little place! Found at sunset at the end of a long day.

Thanks again.

Extreme Dore #1

GC2X3EP

I was wondering what to do about this cache. I'd seen previous logs had found an empty green tie, and I'm not a big fan of claiming a find without signing the log, but I'd come a long way from Exeter for this (amongst others) and doubted I'd be back in the area just to perform a formality...

However, the a Caching God was smiling on me because, believe it or not, I found a cache at the bottom of the tree. Totally unhidden (apart from the green webbing little case it was in.) It had several log sheets in it with lots of signatures, and looked like a cache that someone had taken a pic of previously (in the gallery) though not the green clamshell pad in other pictures.

It seems to have been missing since August and I can't believe it's been sat here unnoticed since then, but there we are. I signed it, climbed up, and clipped it securely to the green tie.

You're welcome.

?!?!?!

Thanks for the cache.

Jonah's Journey

GCJA3V

This one took an extraordinarily long time. a) The coordinates are out by a long way. b) As others have noted, the directions to start from the path at the foot of the crag was misleading (today, though I think the cache is misplaced). c) There were climbers everywhere, and I wasted some time trying to be stealthy before eventually just barging my way through them and rummaging about in all the cracks!

In the end I found the cache at the top of the cliff, within arms length of the grass on the surface - such that although I had climbed down past it, it would have been possible to see it and reach it just by lying on the grass. The last entry in the logbook was from a climber who just stumbled across it and wrote a funny message and left a Chewit! I strongly suspect that the cache has been moved from wherever it was intended to be and strongly recommend that CO check it out. I will message led after finishing this, with photos and coords.

I thoroughly enjoyed the search though, and had a great climb, so thanks for the cache.

Dadda Bu - In a Grouse Hunt

GC1QDBW

Bit of a cache and dash really! Easily parked by the gate. Trotted up. Clumped up the rocks, and there it was within arm's reach.

Thought I'd either have to climb in or wish I'd come equipped with a small child, but it was lemon squeezy.

Given the rating, I wonder if it has been replaced in an easier position? But I replaced as found.

Thanks for the cache.

Mumma Bu - Aladdins Cave

GC1QDC4

Found, like everyone else, as part of the Bu Double!

Wondered why this one isn't hidden in the Very Appealing Obvious Titular Location, but knuckled down to the needle/haystack exercise with a light heart because the weather was tremendous and the poisoned eyes that I woke up with and took me to A&E this morning were beginning to clear up, making me look more Bear Grylls and less Bereaved Girl.

I won't moan about the rating. I'll just mention the rating in a stupidly passive aggressive way instead! The rating didn't help me find it - but the coordinates did! I thought not, initially, but eventually put my trust in them and fingertip-searched from there-out, and found it in minutes. None of the logs helped, and the spoiler of the guy looking for it after dropping it helped Not A Jot! Be warned.

Thanks for the cache.

The Bu's Tunnel of Love

GC1T0F4

Cache number three of Tank's Epic Extreme Weekend 2014 'A', and number 1 today after an hour in Accident and Emergency thanks to either a) an allergic reaction to the eye ointment for conjunctivitis I bought yesterday in Whitchurch, or b) a galloping eye disease contracted from the canal I washed my hands in after completing the 'GeoBEATS' 5/5 there....! Hmm...

This one I wept and blinked my way to along the top of the ridge, then sensibly climbed down to look for the tunnel. Then irritatedly climbed up again to find it! I liked the torch. I don't know if the overall setup used to have more importance than it now does, but the torch makes it look like a toilet chain. I yanked it, rather hoping there'd be a pronounced toilet flushing noise, but no joy there.

Otherwise. A quick open and sign. I'm no fool. ;O)

Thanks for the cache.
